Ed Malyon joined us to discuss how a career in sports journalism took him down the unlikely path to becoming a co-owner of Liga MX club Querétaro FC. Having worked with the likes of The Guardian, ESPN and the Daily Mirror, Ed told us about his experiences as a young sports editor at The Independent before helping launch The Athletic in the UK.
We then turned to his work with Querétaro, discussing the club’s unique recruitment model, the Estadio Corregidora, and just how pleasant, safe and welcoming the city of Querétaro is to visit. A fascinating chat tracing an interesting career from sports journalism to football ownership.
