Arsenal are OUT of the Carabao Cup after a humiliating penalty shootout defeat to League Two Fleetwood Town! 🔴😳 Mikel Arteta's Arsenal suffered one of the biggest shocks of the season, losing 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. But is there something Arsenal fans are overlooking amid all the frustration? I'm usually one of the more positive Arsenal supporters, but sometimes you have to call things exactly as they are. This was embarrassing. Arsenal should NEVER be getting knocked out of the EFL Cup by a Fleetwood Town side battling near the League Two relegation zone! It's now been 33 years since Arsenal last lifted the League Cup in 1993. Yes, the Premier League and Champions League are the bigger prizes, but surely a team with Arsenal's quality, ambition and squad depth should be capable of competing for this trophy? Some Arsenal fans are blaming Mikel Arteta's team selection and squad rotation, but is that really a reasonable excuse? Even with changes, Arsenal had more than enough quality on the pitch to win this game. One of my biggest concerns is Arsenal's creativity without Martin Ødegaard. The Norwegian captain continues to divide opinion among supporters, but when he's missing from the starting XI, the difference in Arsenal's attacking play is becoming increasingly obvious. Are we far too reliant on Ødegaard to make things happen? I also discuss Viktor Gyökeres, who got himself on the scoresheet, and the growing criticism surrounding Kai Havertz. The German international appears to be struggling for form, and some Arsenal fans are beginning to lose patience. But are supporters being too quick to turn against him? Then there's the small matter of Liverpool vs Arsenal at Anfield this Sunday! Could this embarrassing Carabao Cup exit actually come at the PERFECT time, giving Arteta's players the motivation to produce a massive reaction? Or is a trip to Liverpool exactly what Arsenal DON'T need right now?
